It is with great sadness the Society heard the news that Caroline Nelson passed away peacefully in hospital on 23 Dec 2024, following a brief and sudden illness.

Caroline was a loyal and lifelong supporter of the National Pony Society as a greatly respected member, breeder, judge, steward and friend. Caroline served many terms on the Society’s Council and was a past NPS President, as well as being a member of the current riding pony studbook and show committees. We will greatly miss Caroline’s deep understanding of the NPS and its history, as well as her experience, wealth of knowledge and sheer hard work – traits which were her hallmark.

Caroline was a talented and experienced horsewoman of the old school, who produced and rode many horses and ponies so beautifully and to great success, across a variety of disciplines. What a wonderful legacy she has left the NPS and equestrian world more broadly. We will miss Caroline terribly and are so grateful for the outstanding contribution she made to the National Pony Society over many years.
